Charter Expands Commercial Longform Services with TelVue® Platform
Posted on Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Sep 18, 2012 - (Mount Laurel, NJ) TelVue Corporation (OTC.QB: TEVE), the innovation leader in digital and IP broadcast solutions for Cable and Telco operators, announced that Charter has expanded deployment of its HyperCasterTM IP broadcast servers to cover 50% of its footprint for commercial longform services. This significant expansion of the use of the TelVue broadcasting platform comes after the successes of an initial deployment in the Los Angeles market. The TelVue HyperCaster offers a number of important benefits that allow Charter to boost profitability of commercial longform services: - The HyperCaster’s native IP outputs saves up to 75% in capex, headend rack space and power consumption compared to traditional broadcast systems that require costly, real-time encoders on a per channel basis. - The HyperCaster’s integrated Traffic & Billing workflow allows Charter to easily manage a large number of broadcast channels, driving all scheduling and content transfers from their central OpenTV Eclipse Plus Traffic & Billing system. The TelVue HyperCaster integrates with the top Traffic & Billing systems used in Cable, Telco, and Broadcast TV. - Charter Media Sales can use the same workflow they use every day for ad sales. The seamless workflow allows Charter to offer its advertisers a speed to market advantage and great brand visibility. “Commercial longform services are an important revenue generator for cable and telco operators, and TelVue has made it easy and cost-effective so operators can turn commercial longform services into a profit center,” said Jesse Lerman, TelVue President and CEO. “Charter’s expansion from a single market to 50% of their footprint shows how effective TelVue’s IP broadcast system can be to boost revenue of local origination and commercial longform services.”
