Rio Rancho, NM – September 2009… Lectrosonics, recognized the world over as a leading manufacturer of wireless microphone systems and audio processing products, announces the introduction of the HM172 Earset Microphone. Featuring a comfortable, bendable silicone frame that mounts securely to the user’s ear, the new HM172 provides excellent vocal quality in a nearly invisible package—making this microphone an excellent choice for use in a myriad of sound reinforcement applications, including houses of worship, stage productions, live events, and corporate rentals.
The new HM172 offers a 105 mm (4.15 inch) boom length that is ideal for providing maximum gain before feedback while keeping the microphone’s Omni-directional condenser element away from the wearer’s breath stream—thus minimizing wind noise. The HM172 is wired standard with a TA5F connector for use with any Lectrosonics UHF belt-pack transmitters, including the UM400a, LMa, and SM Series. The HM172’s sensitivity is moderate for use with speech or singing. The included cable is a generous 135 cm (53 inches), enabling the belt pack transmitter to be positioned nearly anywhere on the body.
Not only is the new HM172 the ideal match for use with Lectrosonics’ wireless microphone systems, the HM172 offers its own impressive specifications. Frequency response is 50 Hz – 20 kHz ± 1dB while sensitivity is 7mV/Pa, with a dynamic range of 93 dB and a maximum SPL of 125 dB. The HM172 is available in beige and includes a HF (high frequency) peak cap, cable clip, and windscreen.
Karl Winkler, Lectrosonics’ Director of Business Development, commented on the company’s new HM172 Earset Microphone. “Our customers have long been asking for a high-quality, reasonably priced earset microphone,” notes Winkler. “This new product offering helps to complete our line of lavaliere mics used to accompany our well-regarded belt-pack transmitters. I’m confident prospective customers will find much to like.”
The new Lectrosonics HM172 Earset Microphone carries an MSRP of $395. Availability will begin in October.
