Turn Consumer Monitors Into High-End Dispalys with the New BrightEye 72 Converter from Ensemble Designs
Posted on Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Grass Valley, California, 9 June 2010 – Ensemble Designs will be demonstrating the new BrightEye 72 video converter at InfoComm on booth C4713. Cost-conscious video and television facilities that need high-end monitoring for QC, on a set, or for display applications will welcome BrightEye 72 into their signal chain. Off-the shelf monitors can now be used for high-end video applications. Ensemble’s BrightEye 72 converts an SD, HD or 3 Gb/s serial digital video signal to HDMI and also lets broadcasters check for closed caption compliance. It provides adjustments for color-temperature which means it’s useful in live applications. For example, news set lighting is adjusted so that the talent looks good under the lights, but that inevitably means if there’s a video monitor on the set it will look wrong to the home viewer; the colors will look incorrect. The BrightEye 72 feeding that on-set monitor can be adjusted to fix this problem and make it right. “Here’s a way to use an inexpensive consumer monitor for a high-end application,” said Mondae Hott, Director of Sales at Ensemble Designs. Pairing the BrightEye 72 with a consumer monitor is as good as using a high-end broadcast monitor. Colbert Report is using them now.” TV Technology Magazine gave a STAR Award (for Superior Technology Award Recipient) to Ensemble Designs for the BrightEye 72 Video Converter. The STAR Award celebrates and showcases preeminent technological innovations available to the media industry. BrightEye 72 can decode caption data and display is on any HDMI video monitor. 708 or 608 caption data is decoded and displayed on-screen. Video facilities now have a cost effective means of checking their closed caption compliance. “We get to work with great people in places and organizations such as ESPN, NASA and CBS News,” said David Wood, President and Chief Design Engineer at Ensemble Designs. “We work closely with these and all of our customers. It’s a key part of what’s kept us viable for all these years. Most of the truly standout features in our products originated in a question from one of our users, ‘What if it could . . .’ “ Based in Grass Valley, California, Ensemble Designs is in their 20th year of business and is a leading provider of signal processing and infrastructure products to the professional broadcast industry, and other government and commercial applications.
